Here is my latest addition to my rover setup, a new crankup mast, and custom rack so I can stand on the roof and work on the antennas. Height from ground is now 25 feet if I extend the mast fully. It sure is nice to lift all those antennas with a hand crank.

This picture is on Roan Mountain, Nc durning the June 2003 Arrl Vhf contest, if you look closely you will see another van with antennas belonging to a avid microwaver for many years, Bunky Botts, K4EJQ. This was a beautiful morning to enjoy the contest, I could not resist taking a nice hike through the Roan Mountain gardens, what a gorgeous mountain, what a perfect morning...............

Ham radio is wonderful! So much to try, so much to learn. Right now I am interested in vhf weak signal work. I am a Rover in the vhf contests and operate 6-2304 from a 86 astro van. My most recent interest is getting on 10ghz and 5760 ghz. WBFM on 10 ghz to start with and then on to narrow band. Converting surplus motion detectors to WBFM with the help of my friends and in the process, I am learning lots of new and exciting things.

Here is a word for you.....ADVENTURE....Ham radio is for me a constant adventure, especially as a weak signal rover, always a new story to tell, a new mountain to try out, someone interesting to get to know, somewhere new with the beauty of nature to enjoy. Ask me about my adventures, I love to tell others about what a great time I am having.

73, and Please work me in the contests!
