Born New York City 1938; Graduated High School in Coral Gables, Florida in 1957; Attended Universityof Florida one year, and joined the U.S. Navy in 1958; attended boot camp in San Diego, California and was schooled to become an Aviation Electronics technician. Spent 30 years in the Navy and retired in 1988 as a Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9); Visited many ports in countries of Europe, in the Mediterranean and the Pacific theatre; Family was stationed overseas with me in Japan and on Guam. Saw carrier duty on the USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14), USS Inchon (LPH-12)(Plank Owner), and USS Midway (CVA-41); Designated a Master Training Specialist; Married to Jessie, KC4UBE in 1961; three daughters and nine grandchildren. Attended ham code classes with a friend and was first licensed a Tech Plus; Joined Navy-Marine Corps MARS and handled MARSGRAM messages between deployed military and their loved ones for ten years. Was a Net Control for the Alabama Area of MARS for most of those 10 years.Now they use telephones and satelites; Upgraded to General and am working on Extra. Use a Kenwood TS-450S on base into Cushcraft's A3S tribander beam and G5RV at 55 feet. An Ametiron 811H helps when needed. In the mobile we use the ICOM-706MKIIG with a High Sierra Sidekick motor-driven antenna. Enjoy DX the most. I am a Christian and teach an adult class on Sunday mornings; especially enjoy Bible studies with others. Totally retired September 2004 when hurricane Ivan did us in. Glad to correspond. In June 2010 I built my own Hazer-type trolley system for my tower. I used a 3-foot section of tower for the rotor and thrust bearing mounting plates. I also put together a balun forthe feedpoint of my G5RV and I have virtually no SWR with it. I utilize both eQSL and LoTW.
