Bill has been a ham since 1956,and has held nine differnt calls in five call
areas. His present call was, to the best of his knowledge, the first N call
issued and active on the air. Bill was a charter member of the CFO high speed
CW club (# 021), and is active in FOC ( # 1677 )
He is retired executive from the aerospace and computer systems businesses, and
splits his time between homes in Palm Beach Florida, and a lake house 3500 feet
high in the Western North Carolina mountains.
He is married to Cynthia, a non-ham, and has three children, all non-hams.
He started professional life as a classical musician, before switching to a
profession that would produce income, and wound up with degrees in engineering
and physics. He continues to play and sing professionally in Florida and NOrth
Carolina with several Opera companies, symphony orchestras and concert bands.
Bill also plays dulcimer and bluegrass banjo, and plays with a bluegrass band
during summers in the hills of NOth Carolina
He is an avid golfer, scuba diver, sky diver, RC airplane builder and flyer,
and enjoys ultra high speed cw (60 and up)
