QTH in Florida is in an antenna restricted HOA ( Home Owners Association ), where no outside antennas are permitted.

My equipment is a YAESU 857D running mostly QRP as not to cause interference with neighbors.

My antenna here in Florida is a 20ft long wire (#24 wire) . the 857d, HF coax cable goes to an LDG Z-100 PLUS AUTO TUNER, THAN THE COAX GOES TO A LDG RBA4 4:1 bALUN, the output of the balun ground terminal is connected to the Screened porch aluminum framing, the antenna side of the balun passes through the nylon screen, and than up a nearby oak tree.

During the Summer I am located in our Summer home in Blairsville, GA .

My 10 Meter Beacon in Blairsville, GA, operates 24/7 on 28.245MHz , running 5 Watts out of a converted CB Cobra 29. Beacon antenna is a 10 Meter Cush Craft Ringo. Beacon Elevation is 2,200ft above Sea Level. Grid EM74.

The picture below. shows snow capped mountains, in Georgia, North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. This is the NORTH view from my home.

Robert Pohorence Sr. Born Yonkers, New York, received First Ham Call, KN2RDM 1955, at age 15.
In 1957 I upgraded to General Class by taking the written and code Test at the Washington Street, FCC Field Office in NYC. Then in 1967 I took and passed the Extra Class exam , again at the NYC FCC Field Office.

Joined US Navy 1958 and spent 2 years on the USS Tarawa CVS-40 Essex Class Air Craft Carrier. Stationed out of Quonset Point, Rhode Island. During this tour of duty, the US Government used the USS Tarawa as a Flag Ship, and conducted the Argus Experiment in the South Atlantic. The results of the Argus Experiment was the discovery of the Van Allen Radiation Belt.

After my Naval Tour, I worked in Commercial Electronics, Designing and Building Automatic Test Equipment. Many of the Auto Testers were used to test Electronic Components for the Successful Apollo Man on the Moon Program.
After 11 years in the Test Equipment Field, I entered the Nuclear Medicine and Computer Axial Topographic (CAT) Scanner Industry (Medical Electronics) Spent 12 years in that Field.

I then started up International Radio and Computers and went into business on my own.

In 1979 my enthusiasm and love of the then new Solid State ICOM 701 HF transceiver, Encouraged me to produce the ICOM 701 Users Newsletter. Then we expanded it to the ICOM Users Newsletter which covered all ICOM radios. in 1984, I added a Kenwood Users Newsletter.

Both Newsletters evolved into International Radio. Around that time I Started the Kenwood Users Net on Sunday mornings on 14.317 MHz, and also the Icom Users Net Both Nets for the exchange of information. The Icom Users Net is still active each Sunday at Noon E.S.T. (1700Z)

International Radio sold 8 and 10 pole crystal filters for Icom and Kenwood Radio’s, along with many small user kits that enhanced the Radios performance. I purchased FOX Tango Corporation, from Milt Lowens N4ML (SK). Milt sold the Famous FOX Tango Crystal Filters for Yaesu products and also had been publishing the Fox Tango Newsletters for many years along with Yaesu radio Enhancement Kits. After the purchase we continued selling Fox Tango Products and also continued with the FT Newsletter.

Later on our Company became an Authorized Kenwood and Icom Dealer/Repair center.

During these active years Rob received much support and help from his wife Peggy KB4LRD, His son, Rob Jr., KB4JMQ Bob and very good Friends Bob Gobrick WA6ERB (SK), and Richard Adams W8MFD, and many, many Others.

In 1996 International Radio was Sold and Split up into two divsions :
1. International Radio (Also known as INRAD).Selling Crystal Filters kits, Radio Enhancements and Back issues of the newsletters. Their new company is located in Umpqua, Oregon. The owners are W2VJN, George Cutsogeorge and XYL, Georgia French.
In 2008 George and Georgia sold INRAD.

2. International Radio Service Division, servicing most Amateur Radio Products. Located in Fort Pierce, Fl( Now SK)

I am now retired and am enjoying living in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and in the summer months in the Blairsville, GA located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of N.E. Georgia.

In Blairsville, Georgia, I have put up a 55ft free standing Universal Aluminim tower, with a 2 Element Lighting Bolt Quad for 20 through 6 meters, 40Meter Bob Tail 3 phased verticals, 80/40 mtr Fan Dipole, 60 meter Sloper, A G6 Cush Craft 2/440 and for 80 and 40 Meters a Fan Dipole, for 60 Meters a sloping dipole, for 160 Meters a Full Dipole.

Equipment is, Elecraft K3, Kenwood TS-590S, Ameritron AL572, , Kenwood TH6F talkie.
