Click for more detail... Rig: Elecraft KX1 Power: 1-2 Watts from AA batteries Antenna: A 27 foot wire in a tree and two 16 foot counterpoises on the ground. The whole station fits into a small daypack. The picture above was taken in the Swiss Alps at the peak called Schilthorn at about 11,000 ft. I took the KX1 with internal batteries and a couple of wires and operated at the peak. The wires made a low dipole, up about 4 feet, and it was tuned with the internal tuner. While up there, I worked a station from Moscow and one from Lausanne, Switzerland. If you heard my call on the air, I was probably hiking outside near the San Francisco Bay or in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains. Thanks for copying my QRP signal. Most of the work was yours! Last modified: Tue Dec 9 23:02:59 2008 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
