P49X is the "Permanent Visitor" license of Ed Muns, W0YK, who does most of the major RTTY contests from this QTH: ARRL RTTY Round-Up, CQ WPX RTTY and CQ WW RTTY.  The property is owned by John, P40L/W6LD, and Andy Faber, P49Y/AE6Y, and is described in more detail at www.arubaqth.com.  John and Andy do most of the major CW and SSB contests as Single-Ops and sometimes as a Multi-Op when Ed also sometimes joins them.  The station is primarily used for contesting but occasionally for general DXing.

Ed's first visit was in November 2003 with partner Mary Lindsay, but no contesting was done on that trip and very little CW operating.  He came back for the 2005 ARRL RTTY Round-Up, placing second in the world (and Aruba!) behind Jacky, P43P.  Hooked, Ed has returned every January since then and currently holds the world Single-Op HP record in that contest.  In 2007, he began also doing the CQ WPX RTTY contest from here, breaking the Single-Op HP world record each year.  In 2008, he started doing the CQ WW RTTY contest and set the Single-Op HP world record in 2010.  In 2011, Ed, Glenn-W6OTC, Steve-K6AW and Roger - N4RR won the Multi-Two category achieving the second highest score ever in the contest.
