QSL Information:

Direct, Bureau or E-QSL.

It costs me about 1.00 US for postage to USA and about 2.00 US Internationally. If you want a card direct please provide IRCs or US dollars . I also collect postage stamps and would appreciate stamps from your country. If you send some used or mint stamps to me I will pay the postage for your card. If you want Canadian stamps please let me know.

It can take more than 2 years to get a card via the bureau as I only mail cards once a year to the outgoing bureau in Canada. You're going to wait a long time.

If you sent me a QSL card direct and haven't received a card please let me know. I do not send "special" cards for the special prefixes. I do confirm the prefix I used though. I do respond 100 percent to any card I receive.

Call signs or prefixes I have used:

VE3NPP, VE1NPP, CH9NPP, CJ1NPP, VB1NPP, VC1NPP, VG1NPP, XK1NPP, XN1NPP,

VE9NC, VX9NC, CG9NC, CH9NC, CK9NC, XL9NC, & XM9NC

Information:

I have been an amateur radio operator since 1982. I hold advanced certification.

I was first licensed in Ottawa, Ontario as VE3NPP. In 1983 I moved to Toronto, Ontario where I remained until 1990. In 1990 I moved to the province of New Brunswick taking the call sign VE1NPP. When the prefix for New Brunswick was changed to VE9 I immediately changed my call sign to VE9NC. (I was on the committee that got it changed so what was I supposed to do hihi)

I have been medically retired since 1996 due to a permanent degenerative spinal disease and I use Amateur Radio as a means of getting out and meeting people. I enjoy working contests and using all the different digital modes on HF. I do however scan through the bands once in a while looking for a new country on SSB and I will answer a CQ if I hear one. The best chance to work me though is during most major HF contests, on digital, or if you set up a sched. I sometimes get on SSB during the daytime hours and cause pile ups with my call sign. Okay I am not too rare but try finding a VE9 when you need one.

The modes I currently prefer to operate on are Feld Hell, SSTV, Olivia, MFSK, RTTY, and BPSK but I will work any other digital modes as requested. I rarely work CW. If you have worked me in CW then consider yourself very lucky. I do enjoy playing with new modes so if you need New Brunswick on an obsure digital mode just ask or send a sked request. I am always here to help out.

My station consists of a Kenwood TS2000, Kenwood TS850SAT, a HyGain 4 Element EXP-14 up 48' and a 80/40 inverted V. It's simple, pretty basic, but very effective. I am also at about 700 feet above sea level which doesn't hurt.

I am an Acadian. Acadians settled in "Acadia" during the 1600s. Acadia was comprised of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, parts of Maine, and Newfoundland. Some of my ancestors have been here since the late 1630s. Acadians are still here and very proud of our ancestry and genealogy. The British deported most the Acadians between 1755 and 1763 to the 13 Colonies, England and France. Our cousins the Cajuns settled in Louisiana after 1763,  while my family returned to the Maritimes. Our family was deported to South Carolina for those that are interested. I can speak a little French but don't use it often. (Je peux parler un peux de le vieux francais de l'acadie mais pas beaucoup. Je suis mieux en anglais.)
