VI2AMW60 is the special event callsign for the 60th anniversary of Amateur
Radio in the Illawarra. This began with the Wollongong Amateur Radio Club which
later evolved into the Illawarra Amateur Radio Society. Our regular club
callsign is VK2AMW and it is 60 years old having been obtained in 1948. To read

VI2AMW60 will be on air on all bands from 160 Metres to 70cm's between the 10th
and 30th of June 2008. It has been decided that contacts should only be made
via Simplex. The Special event callsign will not be available on Repeaters,
IRLP or Echolink.
A local simplex liason frequency will be operating. Locals are also welcome to
call on 145.450Mhz FM Simplex so the special event club station can QSY to
confirm a contact. Announcements will be made on the coastlink VHF Repeaters
VK2RMP VK2RIS and VK2RBT from time to time to advise where VI2AMW60 is
operating. Local club members who have had a contact with VI2AMW60 will be able
to pick up their QSL cards at one of the future IARS meetings.

Oak Flats NSW Australia 2529. All inward QSL’S are to be received by 31/12/08.
QSL’S will not be accepted via the Bureau or eQSL. VK’s - must provide a
Stamped Self Addressed envelope for a card to be returned within Australia.
Overseas stations - must provide a Self Addressed envelope along with One (1)
IRC or Two ($2) US for a card to be returned.
