I was born in June 1958 at Madras, now known as Chennai, Tamil Nadu state in southern India.

My father was an engineer with Overseas Communications Service (the international telecommunications department of the Government of India). All my childhood we lived in staff colonies surrounded by the huge HF Aerial masts with wires stretched across them. This probably kindled the fire for knowing more about radio communications.

Licenced in 1984, I now live in Gurgaon, Haryana State in north India. For all practical purposes, this is a suburb of New Delhi, the capital city of India and forms part of the National Capital Region.

Apart from Hamming my interests are in Motor Rallying; learning how things work; learning new languages; learning about new people, places and their history. Mature in age as I now am, the only way I take part in motor rallies is by volunteering help to the rally organizers with their communications set up and operations.

Am also involved in Emergency Communications in the National Capital Region. The natural disasters that struck India - South-Asia Tsunami in December, 2004 and the Kashmir earthquake in October 2005 - have been instrumental to push me towards putting in place an emergency communications network and action plan.

In the picture is me in black shirt. With me is Ram, the co-driver for Naren (not in pic), the winner of the M1 Challenge Rally - 2005 on 23 October 2005. Ram turned out to be a ham himself, VU3DRA.
