I go by "Paul". My career has been in commercial radio broadcasting both in engineering and mangagement. I have been very lucky to be able to do something I love all of my life. I hold a General Radio Telephone License which replaced the 1st Class Radio Telephone License I held many years ago. I love radio, any type of radio, and have always wanted to hold an Amateur Radio License. I just couldn't get into learning the code. I know the code has always been the "passing of rights" to get into Amateur Radio but it kept me from getting into this hobby. A friend of mine, that has his Amateur License, talked me into going to a testing session held by a local club and taking the technician test. To my supprise I passed. I took the General Test (4/1/2007) and passed it also. And finally I added the "Extra License" in October 2007. I purchased the IC-7000 as my first HF rig and currently use it as my mobile along with a "Tarheel Antenna" motorized screwdriver and an auto tuner. I purchased an IC-ProIII unit and have it set up as a base station along with an Ameritron AL-80B Amp. On the base I enjoy the 160m band with an Isotron antenna which works really well on a 55' self supporting rotating pole which also support a tri-band yagi on 20, 15 and 10 meters and a 6m yagi above it. I also use a home made "Windom" on the 80m and 40m bands which is centered off the side of my 75' self supporting tower at about 60'. On the other side of the lot I have a 6 band verticle that covers from 40m on up to 6m. It sits about 20' off the ground, just enough to keep the kidds from getting zapped. I look forward to meeting you on the air. Last modified: 2011-01-21 23:03:36, 1768 bytes fetched
