Got my General license W9WMA in 1953 while in the Navy, age 21. I was stationed
at Cheltenham Naval Radio Station in MD from 1953 to 1956 and was discharged as
a Communications Tech (CT2). Upgraded to Extra Class in 1961. Operated as W9WMA
in Milwaukee WI and Batavia IL until 1976. Became W3DP in 1976 on my move to
Camp Hill PA near Harrisburg. The call 3DP dates to 1914 in spark days outside
Philadelphia. My station includes a TS-570D, FT-840. My antennas are a G5RV at
25 feet and a Cushcraft R7000 vertical. I mainly operate CW (first love)with an
old Vibroplex Presentation bug or my K1EL keyboard. I was active in NTS traffic
nets EPA,3RN and EAN from 1977 to 1997. My main activity now that I am retired
is rag chewing on 40M, but I work all HF bands. Member ARRL, NAQCC Club #0742,
EPA-QRP Club #63, NJQRP Club #427, I retired from AMP Incorporated (product
marketing) in January 1998.
73, Dick, Hope to have a QSO with you soon.
