Thanks for looking me up on QRZ. I'm located in what we like to call The Village of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Most of my radio activity is on HF and I'm an NCS for SouthCars @ 7.251 Mhz. I'm also a blind amateur operator and with the help of my XYL I decided to change my Bio here. I want to clear up some misconceptions of the word blind. I don't know what it's like to be blind since birth after having the gift of vision for 56 years. I can see shades of light and dark with my left eye. My left eye has less than 5 percent peripheral vision and in that 5 percent my vision is opaque. Due to failed attempts to save my right eye, it's useless now and I wear a patch over my right eye. I'll be 59 on April 15, 2012. I've attended classes at the Center for Visually Impaired in Daytona Beach for the past 3 years. I've completed independent living, White cane mobility, Typing, and Computer courses. This is a wonderful school. I get books and QST monthly from the Bureau of Braille and talking book Library each month.

I don't like to use the word "Handicap" but Ham radio is a wonderful hobby for anyone that has a physical problem. It brings hours of enjoyment to anyone who spends much of their time in the house. I've been lucky to meet other blind Hams who are an inspiration to me and to others. I'm also proud to say I have a large family of friends on SouthCars

Enough of that subject, My operating conditions are: Icom 746Pro, Ameritron 811H into a 80 meter full wave loop, 40 meter Horse wire dipole, Gap Titan DX vertical, and a CushCraft 2,440, and 6 meter beam.

Other interest: I'm a volunteer with The Greyhound Pets of America in Daytona Bch. for the past 9 years. We rescue the retired racing Greyhounds and find loving forever homes for them. My wife and I have 2 that we've adopted. They are such gentle loving dogs. We continously have 100 Greyhounds in our kennel that are available.
