N4PBV has gone QRT
It is with deep regret that I inform you, My son David passed away August 5,
2005. He was 39 years old.
I miss him so much, His Dad: Danny W4MOP See pictures at http://www.w4mop.com
================================================= N4PBV
David Wayne Hammers Sept 22, 1965 - Aug 5, 2005
Born in Fairdale, Kentucky Living his adult life in Okolona, Kentucky
Dave became a Amateur Radio Operator when he was 15 His first call was KA4VPT
and later became N4PBV.
At 13 started his electronics schooling and finished with 1340 hours Our first
computer was a "4K Radio Shack Color Computer" and he was hooked. He
stacked chips to make it 16K WOW!
Keeping his interest in computers, He later when on to become a Technician and
Computer Consultant for the University Of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. A
job he dearly loved, he always said "No One Should Be Paid For Having This
Much Fun". He always got a kick out of helping people with their computer
Woes.
Dave was also a very accomplished Locksmith. He started this by going with me
on service calls, when he was about 10 years old. After High School (DeSales),
he went to work for Schiller Hardware as a Locksmith and later to the
University Of Louisville as a Locksmith for about 13 yrs. And was President of
The Central States Locksmith Association for I think 2 yrs.
Then transferred to the Arts and Sciences Dept. as Computer Consultant. For a
total of over 20 years at U of L And while at U of L he met the love of his
life, Cheryl Capito, his fiancée at the time of his passing.
When he would say "I got to get away for a little while". I would
know, he's coming to Florida to get some Garlic Knots and some of Patricia's,
(his Step-Mom), baby back ribs.
The hard thing was keeping him away from my computer, he thought it needed
updating or there was this neat little program I needed. Of course he was
right, as always!
And with 3 or 4 phone calls a day, he love his internet phone, to me and our
good friend Stew Haag W4MO, the phone now seems so quiet.
David's Dad: Danny Hammers W4MOP
Burial was at Mount Holly Cemetery in Fairdale Kentucky.
