The Northwest Florida Amateur Radio Weather Association's mission is to support
and recruit a consortium of ham radio operators who have an interest in weather
events, data collection, and dissemination of such weather data to the National
Weather Service (NWS), APRSWXNET/Citizens Weather Observer Program (CWOP),
MADIS, MESOWEST, and other weather data collection agencies via APRS and
internet weather websites.
The Association's goals are: 1) To provide accurate weather data to these
agencies noted thus providing a public service, which is part of the Amateur
Radio Charter granted by the Federal Communications Commission. 2) To maintain
a network for the sharing of information for Amateur Radio APRS weather
stations, types of equipment, firmware, and software used in the service, and,
3) To encourage those interested in assembling and placing into service APRS
weather stations.
