A "late bloomer", I was first licensed in 1978. I now hold an Extra class license and have held a Novice, Technician, General and Advanced license. I am a Life Member of the ARRL. I have been active in NTS and public service throughout my 33 years as a license holder. I hold a BPL (NTS Brass Pounders League) medallian, A-1 op, DXCC, WAS, WAC, etc.

I've held ARRL Field Appointments as OBS, ORS, OES, EC, ASM, and was elected for two terms as Secton Manager for New Hampshire. I was appointed to the ARRL Board of Directors to fill a vacancy and subsequently elected to that position for a second term.

At the national level, I was appointed to the ARRL Board Public Service Advisory Committee and Contest Advisory Committee. I also served as Board Liaison to the DX Advisory Committee. I also received appointments as Board Liaison to the VHF/UHF Advisory Committee and the Membership Services Committee. Finally, I was a member of the Technology Committee which led the process of converting HQ systems from a mainframe to client-server technology.

Back home in New Hampshire, I was three term president of the Interstate Repeater Society in Derry, NH, which supported repeaters on 2 meters, 1 ¼ meters and 70 cm. I also served as president of the New Hampshire Amateur Radio Association (a statewide ARRL affiliated council of NH Amateur Radio Clubs, State Department of Emergency Management and the ARRL Field Organization). I established relations with the Police Deparment in my home town to provide extra "eyes and ears" for selected events and last year celebrated the 28th anniversary of the "Pumpkin Patrol" (using KB1BOO until I got my original call sign back for the NB Contest Club).

I led the effort to establish the Philip J. McGan Memorial Silver Antenna Award for Public Relations now co-sponsored by the ARRL and the NHARA. I produced and directed the video "Your Headquarters at Work", a video tour of League Headquarters and was honored to have it incorporated into the program at the 1992 ARRL National Convention. It is still shown today at club meetings throughout the country. I was also Chairman of New England's first Division Convention held in New Hampshire.

In the world of traffic handling, I was Net Manager for the New Hampshire Novice Traffic Net, a 10 meter NTS training net that started two days after "Novice Enhancement" took effect in 1987. I was actively involved with ARES, SKYWARN and am an ARRL Volunteer Examiner. I was a member of 10-X International, QRP ARCI, and AMSAT among many more. I am an Honorary Life Member of the Minuteman Repeater Association in Massachusetts. I was a member of the Yankee Clipper Contest Club, and, in 1995, became a "Million Point Member". My best contest finish was for the 2004 CQ WPX where I finished First Place US and Third Place World for my category.

In 1996, I moved to Florida. Here I have held Field Appointments as Assistant Director to W4RH for seven years, OES and Assistant Section Manager for Public Service.

I now live in a condo community where outside antennas are prohibited. However, I'm still active on VHF/UHF. You can also find me on EchoLink (Node 209847).
