My Dad and I passed our novice exam in 1958 and recieved the call signs KN0KFA
and my Dad KN0KFB, Barney Sr. Later my Brother Barney Jr. came aboard as K0VUA.
Much later my Father in law "Daddy John" went all the way to
Advanced, passing 13 wpm at age 77 and became N5FQW. I checked into the MM Net
many times during my 30 years in the oil patch. Thanks to the MM Net ( our
meeting place ) and the hams that ran patches for us, we had many wonderful
qso's. My J-38 still sets on the op desk and is frequently used. I have a 52'
crank up with a TH6DXX an Inv Vee for 40-75 and an inverted L for 80-160. Im
always on the lookout for DX and Special Event stations. Im slowly approaching
310 countries confirmed. My favorite S.E. efforts are The Navajo Code Talkers
from Window Rock Arizona and The Route 66 On The Air. My "Blast from the
Past" is talking to The Possum Trappers every night on 75 meters. This is
as close to the 50's and 60's as you can get. Good ole fashioned round table
!My station is an Icom 775 DSP and a Yaseu FL-2100 B amp. I like to collect old
microphones and keys. You can never have too much "stuff" !! I still
put my first store bought Xmtr. an Elmac AF-67 on the air from time to time. 73
es good hunting
