I have been an Amateur since 1974. Things sure have changed since then. I've been a DX'er, Contester, packeteer, TCP/IP'er, etc. I spend quite a bit of time on 15m through 10m and on 6m USB. I work both phone and CW.

Recently, I bought an Elecraft K3/10 (s/n 24) and put it on the air. As a backup, I use a JRC JST-245. HF antenna is limited to a long wire at present, plus a 40m 1/4-wave full-size grounded mounted vertical.

You'll usually catch me on weekends. I try to listen around and work a few on 15m USB. Been trying 20m CW a bit lately (when Sol cooperates), and am enjoying CW more these days. The K3's QRP TX output pretty much assures CW is the best option (2007).

I live in Upland, CA which is a suburb of Los Angeles. Not a bad place to live overall. Very quiet. One of my latest projects is to get permitted to erect a 50foot tower on our 1/2 acre. It's not that this is a challenge so much as figuring out a way to calm the neighbors down over it. I suppose they believe they're about to be irradiated

My profession is electrical engineer. Currently, most of my work is in commercial GPS products. I work for Magellan Navigation, the oldest name in GPS.

73,

Matt, WA6EGJ
