First licensed in 1963, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, operating both as a Novice and
Technician. Remained a Technician, operating only on 6 meters, until 1972, when
I got my General Class, in Houston, TX. Upgraded to Advanced Class in 1974. Off
the air from 1991 until January, 2001. Retired in August, 2001. The station
consists of a Kenwood TS-570DG with a ground mounted GAP Titan vertical for 40
thru 10 and a dipole for 75 meters. When operating mobile or from our RV, we
use an Icom 706 MKIIG with either a Hustler mobile antenna or an NO5E
screwdriver. Use to enjoy rag chewing on 17 meters but since March, 2001, my
operating has been almost exclusively on PSK31. I'm generally on 20 meters but
I also like to check the WARC bands for PSK contacts, which are few and far
between. I've worked all 50 states, (on PSK), from both our previous address in
Texas and from our current QTH in Arkansas. Other interests include sitting in
front of the computer too many hours per day, ballroom dancing, blues music,
riding my motorcycle and traveling with our 5th wheel travel trailer. Moved
from Texas, where we'd lived since 1964, back to our original home town of Hot
Springs, Arkansas in July, 2002. Married to the same lovely lady for 47 years.
My wife, Lynné, (pronounced like Lyn-Nay), got her General Class License,
effective May 20, 2003. Although licensed as KD5WRG, she is now WA5GDW, having
gone thru the Vanity system and re-acquiring her old call, which she allowed to
expire in 1973. Tnx for reading this trivia and good luck to you.
