Howdy:
I've been hamming since 1965. First call sign was WN1FDF. Operated the novice station at the Ft. Devens MARS station: AA1KBO/K1KBO. The novice station was a Lettine 240 and a National NC 270 receiver, 40m dipole. Ft. Devens was the HQ for the Army Security Agency before moving to Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Became WA1HAZ for a brief period, then moved to Arizona after Dad retired from the Army and picked up WA7LYO in 1967. Now days I spend more time repairing amps and radios than operating the bands. Only a couple of QSO's per week. I'm also into the vintage tube and solid state gear and have a Collins S line. Hallicrafters SR 160, Eldico SSB 100F (very nice), Collins KWS -1 Collins KWM-1 SBE 34 transceivers and a bunch more. My professional electronics work has been for Motorola, MA/COM, Maersk Shipping line and a couple of companies you have never heard of. Also, I was a US Army Special Forces A team radio operator in Viet Nam and a long haul HF RTTY field radio operator in West Germany. My first job in electronics was fixing Mad Man Muntz 4 track open frame tape players for a hole in the wall Phoenix company. The motor drive belt used to fall of and this company charge $15 to put it back on. Took about 45 seconds! What a racket eh? 73's & PEACE - Greg Last modified: 2011-01-22 02:13:57, 1442 bytes fetched
