The present for my 10th Birthday from my Uncle Stan (W5PON) was a Hammerlund SPX 210 SuperPro receiver and power supply. I have been "hooked" since that time. CW is my mode of choice since that day, although I do own a microphone which I use once in a while.

My Elmers (I had two) Bruce Ault (AA4XR now XW1B) and Mike McIntosh (WB4YRW) assisted, taught, and encouraged me to continue. Bruce, an avid DX'er, worked with me on the air practically every day which ignited my CW DX monster. Since then I regularly hunt for that "new" one.
