I have returned safely along with the rest of the team from Malpelo Island & HK0NA, you can view our DXpedition at www.hk0na.com

The expedition was a great experience for me and our team made over 195,000 contacts, which was a new World Record for"tents & generators".

We were also awarded "DXpedition of the Year"at the 2012Dayton Hamvention.

In Sept. of 2012 I hope to be part of the Swains Island DXpedition. www.nh8s.org

Above photo from HK0NA, making some of my last QSO's in the last minutes of the operation.

In Jan./Feb. 2011 I was part of the VP8ORK DXpedition to the South Orkney Islands . Our web site is www.VP8O.com

The photo album has been updated and there are great links to the radio operation, wildlife and landscape.

The above picture was taken from inside the shelter of the VP8ORK operation on the South Orkney Islands.

In 2009, I operated with the K5D DXpedition to Desecheo Island, I had the honor to make the first SSB contacts.

Visit that DXpedition web site at: www.kp5.us

***K9CS is my new QSL manager

*** PLUS LOGS for PJ2/WB9Z and WB9Z are now on LOTW ***

** Please include a SASE or equivalent for all direct QSL request**

Check out more of my station and antenna farm at:

www.w9az.com Just look for WB9Z DX Superstation link at top of the Home Page.

Thanks to KA9FOX, I now have pictures on www.qth.com/gallery Including the NEW 4 element full sized 40 meter yagi.

I am also a member of the Caribbean Contesting Consortium and operate from PJ2T. www.pj2t.org

I have recently reached a long time goal of working and confirming over 300 countries on the 160 meter band from my home station in Illinois.

At home I operate all bands 1.8 mHz through 1.2 gHz including 903 mhz.

You can see more of my antenna farm with 10 towers, including a 3 element rotatable 80 meter yagi, a 4 element full sized 40 meter yagi, a 195' rotating tower with three 6 element 20 meter yagis on www.w9az.com. This is the web site of one of my local clubs, the Kankakee Area Radio Society (thanks N9IO). Just look at the top for WB9Z DX SUPERSTATION happenings, including the DXpeditions I have had the honor to be on:

9M0M Spratly, VK9XX Christmas Island, VK9YY Cocos Keeling, I have operated as PJ2/WB9Z, VP5/WB9Z, and WP2/WB9Z. Also, 9M6MBT with my good friend Mike N7MB.

I have been licensed since 1971 when I was 16 as WN9HAD, then WB9HAD and I have been WB9Z since 1988. I have always been a DXer and Contester

In 2001 with good friends AK9F and K9NR we operated VP5F to # 2 World in the CQ 160 CW Contest.

Also, in 2001, I operated with the 9M0M Spratly Island expedition in the ARRL DX SSB Contest and we placed # 1 in Asia multi-op.

I have all countries confirmed with 357 overall. Including 5BWAZ on 80-10 meters and #5 USA with all 40 zones on 160 meters, I have 310 countries confirmed on 160 and 335 countries on 80. With a lot of help from LOTW, I have around 2,900 band countries confirmed.

I have finally made the Top 10 or better in the USA in the CQ and ARRL DX Contest, WPX, 160 meter and 10 meter contest, IARU HF World Championship and the VHF+ contest. I have also won the Central Division several times in the SSB Sweepstakes. I had the QSO record for the CQ 160 Contest with 1,728 contacts in one weekend.

I am a member of the SOCIETY OF MIDWEST CONTESTERS see: www.w9smc.com

Since I average 30,000+ contacts a year, I was way behind on bureau cards. Fortunately good friends Patti AF9H and Jess AI9L have answered over 20,000 bureau cards for me that have piled up here in the last few years.

For direct QSL's please include a SASE or sufficient postage for a return QSL.

Please don't bother me with electronic request from www. eQsl. net.

I love to contest at PJ2T. In the 2003 ARRL DX SSB Contest, AE9B, NW0L and I made 12,509 contacts in the multi-operator, two transmitter category, which placed us number ONE in the world. You can read about that operation written by Tom AE9B in the September/October 2003 issue of the NATIONAL CONTEST JOURNAL Along with other operatorswe won in 2004, 2005 & 2006.

In the 2010 ARRL DX SSB Contest I operated PJ2T single op. all band, high power and made 6,669 QSO's, operating 47 of the 48 hour competition.

I enjoy taking equipment, coax and antennas overseas when I operate and then leaving some of it with the local radio operators to use.

The below picture says it all "CQ DX". the guy on the right is the legendary Contester, DXer and DXpeditioner John Sluymer VE3EJ.

VE3EJ, K9ZO & I had the honor of preparing antennas and coax for the VP8ORK expedition at my station and farm in August 2010.
