Ever since my novice days in the mid seventies, when most of my friends and i had to build our own stuff if we wanted to play radio, i have retained a unique attraction to the smell of rosin and the soft glow of tube filaments. (Probably 'cause we built our stuff at night, for the most part, after chores were done.) To this day, a good part of my station compliment is comprised of very much the same type of things that we built: Regens, Super Gainers, Q-5ers, along with an SX-110, NC-125, DX-60 and a recently purchased and modified HW-101. Shortly, i hope to have a 1938-style "QSL-40" on line, mated with one of the super-gainers. When on the xtal controlled rigs, i can be found chirping along on 7030, 7050, 7125, and 7140. When on the " modern " set,( HW-101 ) i will be, oddly enough, around those same frequencies. Old Habits Die Hard . I am a subscriber to the Glowbugs List as well. I am also a writer - composer, specialising in Christian Contemporary Music ( mostly accoustic guitar, playing that instrument since 1966 ), holding a number of copyrighted material. Once a month i play at "Cafe on the Rock" in Ocala, Fla. If in town one friday nite, stop by and give us a listen. Never a charge. To keep food on the table, i am an optician, and manager of the Forest Family Eye Care Clinic in Silver Springs, FL.
