SOUTH GEORGIA UNITED METHODIST AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY
The South Georgia United Methodist Amateur Radio Society is an organization with the main goalof providing emergency communication in times of disaster or emergency for the communities of South Georgia. The SGUMARS was founded on April 17, 2009.The services offered by SGUMARSare many; 1.Providing emergency communication between the bishop and the districts of the United Methodist Church. 2. Providing emergency communication between communities of South Georgia and the rest of the country and governmental agencies.
3.Providing ARES training. 4.Educating the community about amateur radio and it's importance to the community in times of disaster and emergencies. 5. Helping educate and prepare individuals for amateur radio licensing exams. 6. Promote unity among all ARES groups in S. Georgia and N. Florida. 7. Promote the spirit of amateur radio and have fun with the hobby.
