Originally licensed WN4GPC, in Nashville, Tennessee in early 1960s. Have been
radio-active with previous call for several years. First rig was a
Hallicrafters S-108 Receiver and Knight Kit T-60 crystal controlled transmitter
before upgrading to a VF-1 V.F.O. Then A.M. with an Eico 720 and Eico
Modulator. Then S.S.B. came along, and Heathkit SSB Phasing adapter was added.
I was a charter member of the Radio Amateur Transmitting Society (R.A.T.S.) in
Nashville, and one of my elmers was Max Arnold, W4WHN, who was a great
ambassador for Ham Radio and a great teacher. Operated 10 thru 80 on various
dipoles and windoms. Active now with 100 watts, wire antennas, and verticals.
Interested in HF, 2M, SSB, CW, & digital modes. Read everything I can about
antennas. Ham Radio gives back so much to so many. Have fun learning what you
can and teach what you know.
