I got interested in radio and electronics at the age of 12... Or before (?).. After many attempts building transmitters and antennas, my first Tx really Dx usable one was a gift of my unforgettable friend Raul, YV5FW (SK). Home made, CW only, with one 807 tube PA, Ip meter and Xtal, or VFO controlled. What a marvel…!. Then, I added a couple of 6V6 tubes in Push-Pull as AM plate modulator; never I got good modulation reports, probably due to impedances mismatching between PA plate and the mod Xfrmr. The receiver, borrowed, used to be the home one, an old Phillips BC MW/3 band SW, not too bad for AM…!. First licensed in 1970 as YV5DRN, married, three daughters, four grandchildren, 40 years as radar communications and electronics technician with the National Civil Aeronautics Authority; now I am retired. Work and family took me away from the hobby for a long time. Again active mostly in CW, I like to chase DX QRO. Some BPSK31 SSB FM, HF VHF UHF and Satellite activity.
