I got my first license and all the upgrades while serving in the U.S. Navy. Earned my Novice (KB9FQE) in 1990. Was tested by a couple of hams in Point Loma, CA, when visiting that area for training. Upgraded to Tech (N9KJJ) shortly after the Novice ticket, while in Bremerton, WA, during a nuclear-refueling overhaul. In 1992, I jumped from Tech to Extra (AA9DY), while stationed in Idaho Falls, ID (yep.... the Navy was sailing away in the Arco desert... was there as a nuclear propulsion instructor). *** All QSO's in my log get uploaded to LoTW and eQSL shortly after a contest is over or within a couple of days after a remote op or a general QSO. *** I am QSL Manager for KC9BLP, KA9TYR, and KA9TYS.
