Initially licensed in 1952 as WN4WDB as a 9th grader. Upgraded to Technician in 1953 and then to General about a year later when I got my code speed up to 13wpm. Remained active as W4WDB until the mid-1960s, when career, college, relocations, Air Force tour, family and post-graduate work resulted in a loss of focus on amateur radio. During one QTH change, I revised my license thinking that it was good for another 10 years. It wasn't !! By the time I realized that my license had expired, it was beyond the grace period. In 2006, after an absence from ham radio of more than 40 years, I decided I'd better get back into the ham business while I still could. I took all the exams over a period of 2 months in 2006, resulting in the General call KI4PMU and later the current Extra AI4QQ call. Currently running an ICOM-7000, 100 Watts, to a stealth Tarheel screw-driver vertical in my attic !! Active in CERT, SKYWARN and local ARES Nets. Have WAS mixed, have 48 states confirmed for 10m WAS (need DE & NJ), and have worked 190+ DXCC entities as of mid-December 2011. QSL 100% -- Direct preferred, but will respond to Bureau and eQSL Email: AI4QQ@arrl.net Last modified: 2011-12-25 22:34:30, 1238 bytes fetched
