I've been involved with radio (one way or another) for more years than I care to remember, being both a radio amateur and radio professional. I've held a licence since 1978 although I don't get much time for the hobby these days due to work commitments. I spend most days designing/engineering/maintaining/testing wide-area radio schemes and the control systems for them.

In the past, I was heavily involved with the local repeater scene and was responsible for building and maintaining the old Birmingham 2Mtr repeaters GB3AM and GB3BM (MK2) which ran from the early '80s until their eventual demise (a dubious claim to fame I realise!). I've also built control systems for a number of other repeaters, some of which are still on the air.

I am currently developing a system which allows concurrent operation and control of multiple radios (local and/or remote) which includes an integrated audio transport system.

Outside of radio, I have an interest in old boats and have been actively involved with efforts to secure new homes for former World War II coastal forces craft.
