What's this?...
First licensed in 1965 as WN3FEW (novice) at the age of 16. Moved to New Jersey in late 1966 and upgraded to General Class and received the WB2ZAD call. That was back in the days when you had to take the test at an FCC Field Office and send/receive the code in front of an FCC examiner. Was inactive for a few years and started again in 1985 as N2FET (general). Upgraded to Extra in 1987and then in 2002 I changed my call to K2VY.
I am most active on 15 meter SSB. My present rig is an Icom IC-756PRO driving four neutralized 572B's in grounded grid typically running only 600 watts output. Transmit and receive audio processing includes: Heil PR-20 mic, Audio-Technica AT2020 mic, dbx286A mic preamp/processor, Behringer MX882 splitter/mixer, DOD 231Q dual 31-band audio equalizer and the Crown D-45 audio amplifier driving an Infinity CC-3 speaker. My goal is to produce the best sounding audio within a 3 KHz bandwidth. The Knight T-60 transmitter and Lafayette HA-230 receiver are from my 1966 novice station.
My antenna is a Traffie Technology 15/10 meter Hex Beam at 35 feet with a Yaesu G-450A rotator.
