Hi, I upgraded to General then Extra in 2007. I am enjoying the HF band QSO’s with so many nice people since my upgrades. My Station consists of a Yaesu FT-990, Standard 2m/70cm, Icom 706, and a FT-897 for portable use. I have two homemade HF antennas; a muti-band dipole using a remote tunerand a 43 ft. ground mounted vertical also with a remote antenna tuner. My backup power system is using an Astron RS-35A modified to float charge two 50 AH AGM batteries. I plan to improve my station and antenna system in the future (60ft tower and 3 element stepper currently in storage) when I move to my one-acre retirement site in central Washington in a few years ( near the Stepper IR antenna testing grounds ). My present city lot is just too small for an efficient 160m dipole. . I am a member of ARRL,Radio Club of Tacoma, and the Pacific Northwest VHF Society. I enjoy doing a few yearly remote operations and some contesting. Thanks for taking the time to look me up. I am currently planning on replacing my 43 ft vertical with a 5 band hexbeam.in the comng months. 73 Mike
