Hello everyone!

I am a 30 year old philosophy graduate student/teacher, working on my doctorate in Philosophy at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I have been a ham for 17 years, and I am a third-generation ham (i.e. a second harmonic): My grandmother was Velma Fruhling, WA6TOA (SK); and my father is George Fruhling, WA6SOP. I am originally from Vacaville, California, but I have been living in Santa Cruz since 2002.

As for my station equipment, I currently have a Yaesu FT-747GX, running 25 Watts, though an MFJ-941D tuner, to an indoor random wire antenna strung around my first-floor apartment's ceiling. I operate mainly 40 and 20 meters CW, but I also do some SSB contesting during DX and domestic contests. I also have begun to experiment with HF data modes such as PSK31 and RTTY, but CW is my first ham radio love. My backup station equipment consists of a Swan 350, a Swan 240, and a 20 meter Wilderness Radio SST QRP transceiver.

My other hobbies include spending time with  my cat Peaches (who likes warm tube rigs!), model railroading, piano playing/composition, camping, hiking, fishing, reading, coin collecting, daydreaming, traveling, food/wine, cigars, etc; too many to count really!

QSL collecting is also one of my favorite ham activities, and I would love to have your card in my collection if we have had a QSO!

I hope to see everyone on the air!
