I've been into radio for many years, and in 2005 stopped procrastinating and
got my license. I am active in the Monroe County Radio Communications
Association (MCRCA http://www.mcrca.org), but what I enjoy most is the public
service part of the hobby. For the past two years I have been involved in the
Monroe County ARPSC group. I am now an AEC for Monroe County and run the ARPSC
nets on the 146.720mHz (100Hz Tone/Negative Offset), and also run the Skywarn
nets. I have been working closely with the Monroe County Emergency Management
Division throughout all this and it has been a rewarding experience. I have
completed all the required FEMA courses for RACES when I become 18, and I am
looking forward to takeing the next classes offered. I am hoping next year to
go to Michigan Technicial University for Computer Systems and Network
Administration. I have also though of changing my career choice to emergency
management. I am usually locally on the 146.720 (K8RPT) in Monroe, and also
listen to the surrounding Detroit and Toledo repeaters. Feel free to give me a
shout any time.
