Our very first QSO was with PP5ADK, that is well and alive ( Mário is back again soon with hot news on HF, in SSB and CW ... ), on the band of 80m in the "well loved" AM, at that time ! I was PY5AHR (1974 to 1976) and PY5WSS (1977), and in 1978 I become top brazilian amateur class (at age 18), so called "A Class", and become PY5VX, in the city of Curitiba, where I live all the way, to 1994. Today I was fortunate to have this nice call: PP5VX ! Most of my QSO on ham bands are on CW (A1a), since I learned it, in that early days, and remember that to learn CW, it depends only on yourself ! I was very active on all modes, from 1.8 MHz (160m) all the way up to 2.4 GHz (13 cm) !

We use QRP mostly (a FT-817ND), with 5W RMS ( abt 37 dBm ), and a ZS6BKW Antenna as an "Inverted V" with about 70' on center, and about 30' on both ends. With an angle of about 140°, for the "V" legs. All of this aerial are about 300' of "Babitonga Bay" (see on satellite's map) You can see much more, at this nice site, of my friend PY5GW: http://www.hambrasil.com.br/pp5vx ( Please take note: All writing there in brazilian portuguese ! ) All over the world, by all amateur radio stations on 40m/CW, the QRG of 7.030 kHz is reserved to QRP stations, in other words, for stations that use ( and enjoy !) a maximum power output on yours transmitters of 5W RMS, or ( much... ) less !
I am ending the job of making a RF Attenuator, that will lower the power here, to as much as 6mW, ( abt 8 dBm ) in any mode and band, that I use in a regular basis ! If you need some testing, I will be hearing from you, too ! If you need IOTA SA-027, or a real QRP QSO:

Língua Portuguesa [ pt_br ] = Olá ! Sou radioamador desde 1974, na época com 14 anos (que era a idade mínima naquelas priscas eras...hi), e neste ano de 2009 chego ( espero ! ) aos saudáveis 49 anos. Nosso primeiro QSO foi com PP5ADK, que está ainda bem ativo ( o Mário está se preparando para retornar à plena carga no HF, tanto em SSB como em CW ! Grande Padrinho... ), na faixa de 80m, e na "saudosa" modalidade AM - o TX era um Delta 310 ( "cara preta" ou "barra limpa" - Sim Senhor ! - Lembra ? ) e o RX,um Hallicrafters SX-29, e a tal da antena, era uma mísera Hertz com 22 metros de comprimento, a 8 metros do solo, com um ATU (em "L") confeccionado pelo meu pai, PY5VJ - e tudo caseiro, com araldite, placa de fórmica de cozinha, e um capacitor de 465 pF de rádio-receptor, "salvo" de uma sucata (o que não era, até nós retirarmos o capacitor...), e tudo "de luxe" ! hi Fui PY5AHR (1974 até 1976) e PY5WSS (1977), e em 1978 tornei-me Classe "A" (com 18 anos), trocando para PY5VX, na cidade in Curitiba, onde residi até 1994. Hoje, sou um "felizardo" em continuar como PP5VX ! Muitos de meus QSO foram em CW (A1a) desde aquela época onde o aprendi, e lembre-se de que aprender CW, depende sómente de você ! Estou muito ativo de 1.8 MHz (160m) a 2.4 GHz (13cm), em todos os modos !

Utilizamos um equipamento exclusivamente QRP a maior parte do tempo, é um YAESU FT-817ND, com 5W RMS ( cerca de 37 dBm ), e uma Antena ZS6BKW (instalada em formato de "V Invertido"), com uma altura central de 21m, e em ambas as pontas, a cerca de 9m, para um ângulo de abertura aproximado em cerca de 140°. Esta antena está a cerca de 100m da "Baía Babitonga" Veja mais, no excelente site do meu amigo PY5GW, em: http://www.hambrasil.com.br/pp5vx Em todo o mundo, por um acordo de cavalheiros, entre todos os radioamadores, na faixa de 40m/CW, a QRG de 7.030 kHz é reservada para Estações QRP, em outras palavras, para radioamadores que usam ( e gostam ! ) de uma potência máxima em seus transmiscores, de 5W RMS, ou até ( bem... ) menos !
Estou em fase final de montagem de um Atenuador de RF, que vai possibilitar potências tão baixas quanto 6 mW ( cerca de 8 dBm ) em qualquer modo de emissão, e faixas, que utilizo regularmente !
