Ah, my days of past as a sea-swab in the U.S. Merchant Marine aboard ships of every size shape and color! Of the 47+ countries in the 10 years from Desert Storm onward I racked up many maritime mobile QSOs along with the numerous ones from Diego Garcia. The club there had a shack (see the QSL pix) and getting on wasn't a problem + there was always some experiment going on when u get a dozen ship radio officers together! Now they run the VQ9X call collectively but I've still got my logs and the memories of the good times there running pileups at all hours of the day.
