Dennis Allen Sokol W0JX/8 22 Old State Road Milan, Ohio 44846 - 9602

My hometown is Chicago, Illinois and my fascination with radio began in grade school at the age of 10 by listening to hams on 160 AM on an old Zenith Console radio. I learned the code at Allied Radio on Western Avenue and earned my Novice ticket, receiving KN9QNC in January, 1959. My General class ticket, K9QNC, came in 1960 and Extra in 1963. After college, I ended up in Minneapolis in 1974 and picked up a second call, WB0WWR, followed by W0JX in 1977. Other calls I've held include WB9AVU, G5CLR, GM5CLR, and GW5CLR.

In 1982, I moved to South Dakota and operated there for 16 years. In February,1998, I got a new job and moved to Sandusky, Ohio to serve as president and CEO of a 200 bed hospital, Firelands Community Hospital. In September, 2001, we purchased the other hospital in town and created Firelands Regional Medical Center, a 350 bed facility. In September, 2003, I was offered a great opportunity to take early retirement, so now I have plenty of time to provide volunteer service in health care management to the community, as well as pursuing my favorite hobbies of amateur radio and flying. When the weather is nice, I'm out flying my 1956 Cessna 180 taildragger.

Favorite Bands and Modes: 160 CW/AM, 20 CW/SSB. TX/RX: Yaesu FT-1000MP MK V Field, Kenwood TS-850, Viking Valiant for AM on 160,80, and 40, and an ICOM 706 MKIIG for 6,2, and 440. AMPS include an Ameritron AL-800H for 160-10, a modified BTI LK-2000 for 160 AM/CW, and a Collins 30S-1 for 80/40 AM.

Antennas: 80 FT shunt fed tower with HyGain TH6DXX for 160. (TH-11 in boxes), Butternut HF6V 80,40,30,17, and 12 Meters. Three Beverage RX antennas for 160, 80, and 40.
