I was born Micheal F Dunlap almost 56 years ago here in Sumter, SC. Worked for
26 years and retired from the Sumter Fire Department in 1999. Presently a Fire
& Life Safety Instructor for the State of SC and the Federal Government's
National Fire Academy.
As for Ham Radio, First licensed in 1988 as KC4HUT. Then W4FED in 1998 until
the present time. Being a good operator has always been my goal and having many
friends and a few "Elmers" to set great examples has made that goal
more fun to reach. I hope that you as an operator will help to keep the
"valued traditions" of Ham Radio alive on the bands each and every
day.
My operating equipment is a modest console of a FT-1000MP Mark V, TS-870s,
IC-756 proII, and TS-850sat. Also an Ameritron Al-80B and MFJ-989C tuner. For
VHF/UHF operations a couple of IC-V8000 mobiles for Simplex and some local
repeater operation.
I have always enjoyed working special events, especially Navy Ships and
anything Military related, also lighthouses, and IOTA events when possible.
Ragchewing on 75/40/17m in various frequency groups always makes my day
interesting. I hope to talk to you somewhere down the log...
