GREETINGS FROM THE CHIPPEWA NATIONAL FOREST IN MINNESOTA
The North Star Camp Ground is located 5 miles south of the town of Marcell on the National Scenic Byway HWY 38 in the Chippewa National Forest in Northern Minnesota about 50 miles south of the Canadian Boarder. This is the 8th season as a Volunteer camp ground host for the US Forest Service. We come the last week in April and stay to the first week in October. The County is Itasca and the grid is EN37en, the CQ Zone is 4. The IARU Zone is 7. The photo is the lake from my dock site The Minnesota Address is my FCC address and is good all year. I have retired and am living in my SCAMP full time. We wintered (2008-2009) hosting for the National Park Service at the Amistad National Recreation Area in Del Rio TX. The shack is the front half of my Scamp Trailer. All HF Contacts are QRP with an Icom 703 that has the 500 HZ CW filter using solar power and batteries. For 40 and 15 meters we use a 40 meter dipole, up 30 feet in the trees For 10 meters we have a vertical Most early mornings find me on 40 meters around 7.040. VHF, UHF I also am an avid 6 meter operator working towards the FFMA award with 320 grids from the MN QTH. We run an 857D at 100 watts in to a KMA5054 log at 20 feet. For 2 meters we also use the KMA5054 log with 100 watts. I am a Member of ARRL, Flying Pigs # 1830, NAQCC # 2390, and Ten-Ten # 74931and the Northern Lights Radio Society. I respond to all QSL cards NO SASE is NEEDED!!! All contacts are uploaded to LoTW.
