Click for more detail... My name is Paul, following my City and Guilds examinations in 1987, I was first licensed as Class B licensee (G1ZOH) I took the 12 w.p.m. Morse test in 1991 to become Class A licensee (GØOPH). I guess the heyday of my amateur life so far is the confirmed QSO I made on 50mhz ssb with a home constructed 2m-6m transverter and Amplifier to Australia (VK6KRC) on the 8th Feb. 1992. Using just 25w SSB to a HB9CV at about 25 feet above ground.Report was 5-4.... moral is, let's use 6 meters more now conditions are on the up! HF : Consists of an FT-2000 by Yaesu, up to full legal power courtesy of UK Linear Amp's Ranger 811H. Aerials : Consist of a 1/4 wave Inverted L Vertical for 80M and 1/2 Wave on 40m Inverted V Antenna for 15M/40M, essentially a scaled 3/4 size G5RV resonant on 15M 20M is a 1/4 Wave Vertical with elevated radials sitting on a 1/4 wave grounded element all fed at the centre, utilising a stub match of 1/8 wave thereby emulating a 5/8 groundplane antenna, and of course a low angle take off. see here - http://www.raibeam.com/wa7rai/20m_vert/20m_vert.html
6 Metres : FT-2000 up to 100W to a HB9CV in roofspace, or on occasion, during sporadic E season, to a Hentenna on a fibreglass fishing pole at 6m height. I also still posess the FT-290r11 and the 50mhz transverter and Amp setup. VHF : Consists of either my trusted FT-897, or the brilliant FT-290r11 and up to 85Watts all modes from a modified ws-2090h Amp (Mirage B310g clone ?) to a homebrewed 5 ele quad...fixed south. (for the time being) . UHF : FT-897 to 2m/70cm dual band vertical at abt 30'. To all who have had a contact with me, very best 73, and hope to meet up again in the near future. p.s. as a general rule I only qsl via e-qsl.cc....think green :) Last modified: Thu Jan 7 15:43:53 2010 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
