A31KK was a weekend operation from Fafa Island, Tongatapu Group, OC-049, during CQWW SSB contest 2009.  Most QSOs were on 15 and 20 but a few were also on 10 and 12.

The A31 is a new prefix used since October 2009 for visiting amateurs in Tonga. I think I was the first one who use it.

I would like to express gratitude to Paul Kidd, A35A (A35RK) for his help.  Muchas gracias amigo Pablo!

Also I would like to thank Mr. Alfred Soakai from the Ministry of Communications. We had a great conversation about the use of amateur radio in emergencies, as the tsunami that hit the northern island of Tonga last month.  The need for Amateur Radio is obvious and we need to keep it alive.

Maló (thanks in Tongan) to Stephen VK3SN/A35AB who operated from Fafa Island for his advice.

Also Maló to my dear friend Peter ZL2AZ for his very precise advice on Nuku'alofa, capital of Tonga.

As in every DX operation I have made I want to thank Joaquin XE1R, Hector XE2K and Bernie W3UR for their support.

Note on the QSL cards: QSLs will be printed in Bulgaria by Emil LZ3HI and will be sent via the Bulgarian bureau. Please don't QSL to me since I will not have cards to answer.  The log is already on LoTW, if you haven't been confirmed email me with the QSO information.  Please don't QSL to me direct... wait for your bureau QSL card.

73,

Ramón, XE1KK
