Click for more detail... A52UD was the call sign of Charly Harpole during his two-week December 2000 operation in the shadow of Mount Everest...in the remote Kingdom of Bhutan. Enjoying the hospitality of the Ham Center in Thimphu (capital city), Charly was joined by Jani (9M2US), who installed a second tower and added an A-3WS to the existing A-3 tribander. Charly traveled to Bhutan twice earlier, before ham radio was allowed and lobbied the Bhutanese government officials for a permit. He finally got a license soon after its recent re-opening to ham radio. Charly tried to make contacts on 160 and installed a Beverage, but the band never opened. A few contacts were made on 80m, but the most fun was had on 40m and up. Contact Charly for information about travel to this exotic DX location via K4VUD@hotmail.com. QSL cards go via HS0ZCW (HS buro or direct). Last modified: Thu Jan 1 19:28:52 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
