I WAS ORIGINALLY LICENSED IN 1960 AS WV2LBP. AFTER A LONG SABBATICAL FOR MARRIAGE, WORK AND THE NAVY, OUR FAMILY ENDED UP IN MOBILE, ALABAMA. N4IRO WAS MY NEXT CALL IN 1983, AND I GOT ON THE AIR WITH A USED TS-520S. IN 2011, I UPGRADED TO EXTRA AND RECEIVED THE PRESENT CALL.

RETIREMENT FROM THE BEVERAGE INDUSTRY IS GOOD! BESIDES GETTING ON THE AIR AND ALL THE TASKS OF HOME OWNERSHIP, TRAVEL, ETC., THAT 1977 EL CAMINO RESTORATION OCCUPIED LOTS OF TIME, AND IT'S NOT QUITE FINISHED. I AM ALSO RETIRED FROM THE MILITARY WITH FOUR YEARS ACTIVE NAVY SERVING IN THE PHILIPPINES AND HAWAII, AND THEN 22 YEARS IN THE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD WITH ACTIVATIONS TO KOREA AND IRAQ.

ANTENNAS ARE A TA-33JR TRIBANDER AND A HOMEBREW 6M LONGBOOM. BOTH NOT VERY HIGH.

BESIDES SSB AND A BIT OF CW, I AM ACTIVE ON RTTY, BPSK31, JT65 AND JT9. I PREFER TO CHASE DX, DO A BIT OF NON-SERIOUS CONTESTING AND LOOK FOR GRIDS WHEN THE "MAGIC" HAPPENS.

73'S DOUG
