Hello,

Thanks for looking up my callsign. My name is James and I live in Texas City, Texas. The city is in Galveston County right on the Texas gulf coast.

I do like to trade QSL cards. When trading cards by regular mail I always QSL 100% with No SASE required. I'm also authenticity guaranteed with eQSL, and trade cards there too.

The rig here is a Kenwood TS-570s 160-6m. The antenna is a hy-gain TH3MK3-S, 3-element beam at 40ft. I also have a ground mounted Titan DX. I have a Kenwood TK-7160 mobile for 2 meter & a Kenwood TK-8160 mobile for 70 cm. I have a Motorola HT-1000 & Motorola Saber HT & a Yaesu FT-470 HT for the repeaters.

I usually like to work 20m phone, but also like to work some CW when the mood strikes me.

I enjoy building & testing antennas. It is a lot easier now with my antenna, (MFJ-259B), analyzer, Hi Hi...

I am a member/president of an active amateur radio club, Tidelands Amateur Radio Society,Inc. We have a wonderful group of people for members & are always looking for more. The club has several outings each year in addition to field day.

I also belong to the GCECG, Galveston County Emergency Communications Group, ARRL, ARES & Texas RACES. I am also an ARRL VE liaison here in the Texas City/Galveston County area. We hold our sessions the 3rd Saturday of the month at 9am. There is always something to keep you active in amateur radio. This is why I enjoy it.

The Tidelands Amateur Radio Society,Inc. Hamfest on July 11 was another great success!  I want to thank all who attended and all of our members that came out to help & support the club during the event. We had over 100 tables and all were filled with every type of amateur gear and other items that you could imagine. We had several hundred hams & non-hams alike attending the event. The hamfest committee will take a well deserved break, and then it's time to start planning the 2010 TARS Hamfest. We look forward to next year's event and hope it will be as big of a success as the '09 event. Hope to see you in 2010. If you would like to visit our web site go to: "www.tidelands.org" Thanks again everyone for making our hamfest one of the largest in the area.

The club also participated in the 2009 SPAR winter field day on January 24. We were a Multi Op station,Outdoors,In a Public location & No commercial power. We managed to score 3,016 points even though conditions were not the best. However we hope to do better next year.

The club hosted a special event station in Texas City for the 62nd anniversary of the Texas City Disaster on April 18th. We want to thank all of those who contacted us during our short time on the air Saturday. Our event was cut short due to some severe weather that moved into our area around 12 noon that day with thunderstorms, hail and high winds. We can plan almost everything except the weather. We will be back next year with the 63rd anniversary event.

The club participated in the ARRL field day-2009. Everyone there had a good time and we even made a few contacts. The South Texas heat as always was a major factor at our field day location, although we did get a small break in the temp this year I think it was only in the low 90's Hi Hi. Each year that we participate in the event we have fun and some good food too, so all in all it was a great field day again this year. We are all ready for Field Day-2010.

Once again thanks for looking up my callsign. If you hear me on the air give me a call.

73 from Texas,

James.
