Click for more detail... Howdy from Texas, I've been in Ham Radio since 1992, my wife Bekki is also a ham,KC5MOA. Enjoying the hobby, love contesting, my hf rigs are a Icom IC-718 and Icom IC-720a. I use an MFJ 949e tuner, I also use an MFJ-297 microphone and operate all with 50 amp Astron power supply. I have a Wilson SY1 5 element tri-band at 42 feet and a modified Hustler 4-btv vertical to work 12 and 17 meters. I do a little 2 meter sideband with an old Icom IC-245 with a Mirage Amp though an 11 element horizontal beam. We live on 11 acres in north central Texas and have turned it into an antenna farm. I have more than few die-poles up. Recently I made a 1/2 wave 160 meter die-pole antenna, I can't wait for cycle 24 to get up and running. The older I get I find myself wanting to bring the old radios back from the dead. My Icom IC-720a is one of my favorites, this radio was under water in the Katrina Hurricane. I bought it from a scrap dealer cheap and spent a couple hours cleaning it up and it actually came to life It's a great old radio. I hang out on 147.500 simplex most times with a great group of locals so if you're passing by look us up. I hope to work with you on bands,73's.
