Primary Station

QSL CardB-25J

Amateur Extra Class

Previous Call Sign: KI6ATB (2005 - 2008)

Member of: ARRL; Mount Diablo Amateur Radio Club (MDARC); Contra Costa ARES/RACES; SKCC #4092; FIST #13713; NAQQC #3806. Interested in all aspects of Amateur Radio, especially QRP (CW and Phone) and AmSat from remote locations. I am currently the ARRL East Bay Section Emergency Coordinator, and was previously the Assistant District Emergency Coordinator - Training for Contra Costa ARES/RACES. I  presented at Pacificon 2008 on the topic of integrating ARES/RACES into CERT operations and was selected by the Department of Homeland Security to be a speaker at the 2009 National Conference on Community Preparedness  on the topic of  Emergency Communications: Integrating ARES into CERT During Disaster Operations.

That's me above flying a World War II Mitchell B-25J (S/N 44-28932) over the World War II Battleship Iowa on Memorial Day 2006. Of all the planes I have flown as a Private Pilot, I will take the B-25 over a Cessna 172 anyday.

Primary Station:  Yaesu FT-897D, Alinco DM-330MV Power Supply, AM-K4 "Japan Ball Bearing" CW Key. I run this station barefoot at 100 watts PEP for both CW and SSB.

QRP/Portable Station: Yaesu FT-817ND, Radio Shack 10 AMP Power Supply or SLA Gel Cell, Vibroplex Code Mite CW Key.

Antenna's:
1) Homebrew 20 Meter Wire Dipole fed with RG8X into a 1:1 Balun. This antenna is hung in a tree about 18 feet off the deck.
2) Homebrew 40 Meter "Droopy" Wire Dipole fed with RG8X into a 1:1 Balun. The Balun is attached (apex) to a 12 foot piece of pvc electrical conduit and each end droops to about 5 feet off the ground where they are tied off to fence posts.
3) Buddipole
4) Ventenna VT-27 (Stealth VHF Antenna)

QSL: If you need a QSL, the easiest way to get one is direct exchange. Send me one of your QSL cards as a post card, and I will respond in kind. If you need a clean card without all of the post office markings, etc..., a SASE will get you a clean copy returned in your envelope. I sometimes use ARRL's Log Book of the World, as well as eQSL.

73 and hope to hear you on the Air.
