Del 16 al 30 de este mes de Octubre estará activa, en todos los modos y bandas, la EG5MGY, con motivo del homenaje que la Fundacion TITANIC, realizara a Guglielmo Marconi, y en el que estara presente su hija Elettra Marconi.

El acto del homenaje será el dia 27 del presente mes en la "Exposición TITANIC" que se encuentra instalalada en la Ciudad de las Artes y Las Ciencias de Valencia.

Para dicho evento se montará una estación a la entrada de la exposición desde donde se activará, tambien,la EG5MGY.

Desde la cabina del operador que se inaugurará ese dia por un telegrafista de URE Valencia, se transmitirán los mensajes en C.W. que el Titanic lanzó al aire antes de su hundimiento, "CQD CQD CQD CQD CQD CQD from MGY MGY MGY MGY MGY position 41. 44 N 50. 24 W" los cuales se escucharán por los MP3 y auriculares que se entregan a la entrada a todos los visitantes y que en ese momento se encuentren contemplando la exposición.

El sufijo MGY no tiene nada que ver a simple vista con el Homenaje a Marconi, pero es el que se ha pedido porque es el indicativo que tenía el Titanic cuando lanzó los mensajes pidiendo ayuda.

La letra "M" corresponde a la marca del equipo de radio en este caso MARCONI.

La letra "G" corresponde a la letra del pais, en este caso GRAN BRETAÑA.

La letra "Y" es la letra que por orden alfabetico le correspondió al Titanic.
