Exploring data modes, especially JT65A using a Yaesu FT-817ND, Z817 ATU and Signalink USB interface.

QRP with about 2 watts into one of my G Whip end-fed entennas.

Below: Experimenting with an old 'Wonder Wand' antenna and matched counterpoise. I was having difficulty matching the antenna untill I added the conterpoise and adjusted the length of the counterpoise to get a good SWR rather than adjusting the telescoping antenna. Astonishing results using JT65A and JT9 with best DX so far being 1500 miles using about 2 watts.

Wonder Wand Antenna

Below: PSK Reporter map showing 20m reception of my 2 watt JT65A signal using the Wonder Wand - a 1.2m telescoping antenna sitting indoors on the window ledge!

Below: Icom IC-706 Mk 1 having a rest at the moment due to my new interest in QRP,mostly being used for 60M nets with UK 5MHz NOV permission.
