If you are looking at my QRZ site I guess you have either heard me at some time or worked me recently, so thanks for taking the time to look me up.

You have probably worked me on CW where I spend 90% of my time but you may have talked to me on SSB on 20m and other bands, where I can be found at times. My antenna for 20m is a homebrew Moxon which performs pretty good for its size. It is made, from off the shelf aluminium tubing, angle and car exhaust/muffler clamps with a boom instead of fibreglass fishing rods, wire and more common 'X' centre. If you are interested just let me know and I will send construction details and photos. My antenna for the lower bands is the much meligned G5RV which in my opinion also performs very well and is good enough for my needs.

I am a retired teacher and worked at Thornhill School, Sunderland in the North East of England for a total of thirty two years and was Head of theTechnology Department from 1986 until 2008 when I retired. The subjectsI taught ranged from Engineering, Auto Engineering and Electronics. I also ran the school radio-club while I was there and the callsign was M0THS still listed in QRZ.COM, sadly there was no one at the school licensed to continue the club's activities.

I live in Durham with my wife Gill, also a retired teacher and we have two daughters, Victoria and Rebecca.

Good DX and 73 for now,

Jim.

(Below is my modest station equipment and homebrew 20m Moxon)

Below is a photo of Gill and myself and our two beautiful daughters attending a relative's wedding in Madrid. Victoria, the eldest is next to Gill. Very sadly Victoria died four days after her thirty fifth birthday on 17th March 2011.

We miss you so much sweetheart you will always remain in our hearts and thoughts. Rest in peace.
