MOBILE OPERATING FROM MEON SHORE, HAMPSHIRE, ON THE SOUTH COAST OF ENGLAND.
139 countries worked from mobile operating
Recenly I've been HF moble operating using my TS-480SAT and a range of Ampro antennas for 6 through 40m on the car roof. Output power is now about 100w thanks to an MFJ-4416B battery booster and a Heil HMM dual element fist mic. A big THANKS to all the stations who have responded to my CQs.
I was first licenced in 1991. In 2000 I took a break from Amateur Radio, but now that I have retired from work I have returned to the hobby. I have now set up a new radio station at home which includes for 70 cms, 2 metres, 6 metres and full HF facilities in the 10 to 40 m bands. All antennas are temporary and will be upgraded progressively. For 10 to 20 metres I use a "Cobweb" antenna as shown below. This antenna is located only 5 metres above the ground and gives amazing results considering it's lack of height. I restrict myself to a maximum output of 100w on HF and 25w in digi mode. HF digi operation, mostly using PSK31, PSK63, PSK125, RTTY and my favourite OLIVIA.
My home station location is the village of Titchfield in the county of Hampshire on the South coast of England and is within one kilometer of the Solent waterway. I am roughly mid-way between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton. Portsmouth is famous for being the traditional home port for the British Royal Navy.
