The call-sign 2TV was issued to the Baird Company on 5th August 1926. From then until late 1929, 30-line TV transmissions were made on 200 metres from London, initially at 250W from Motograph House then subsequently at 500W from Long Acre. High definition experimental TV programmes were transmitted on 7 metres in 1934 from Crystal Palace using a 10kW transmitter.

2TV was returned to the airwaves by the late Ray Herbert G2KU in 1988 as G2TV to commemorate the achievements of the pioneering days of television in Britain.
