Born in 1942 first licensed 1958 in Leicester very keen in 160m dx have worked WAC on 160. Had a 94 foot loaded vertical on that band in the 70's. Became interested in two meter repeaters in 70's and built GB3CF at Markfield. Was married to "LULU" G3WDA who used to work cw on 7mhz.
Now divorced don't have the 94ft vertical anymore. built GB3PC a 2m repeater in Portsmouth, and maintained GB3SR and GB3BR. Had a stroke in 1989 and did not work for a while. I was a taxi driver then, but not working currently. I had a minor heart attack in March 2005 and another in May 2005 went into QA Hospital locally waited 8 weeks for quad heart bypass which I had in Southampton on July 1st 2005. Was home on July 15th with daily nursing care
Now . now 73 yrs old had stroke last year cannot write right hand us cannot send CW but can still read trying to use to send using left hand have new kenwood 590sg cannot walk without a frame
I moved 5 yrs ago to ground floor flat with a 70ft tree in garden have a 66ft vertical for 80m in tree with small radials,
FOR 160m Have inverted L at 70ft with 75ft off wire between two 70ft trees total 145 ft inverted L network at base.and small radials.
and 40m dipole for chat.20-m vertcal antenna used for 40m dx .Postage stamp 33ft garden
Seems better location BUT,lot of local noise from plasma tv and noisy switched mode power supplies
Currently cannot walk but getting better RADIO Kenwood FS590sg ANT down but hope to get back soon and ACOM 1000 amp ,
have fibre optic 200 meg broadband now
